GARDENING
Planting time is readily approaching us. I am excited and motivated to produce successful crops this season. Last year I had some mishaps with pests and other issues that I can avoid this time around. I am not a planner, or rather, I have not been a planner in the past. My haphazard/willy nilly approach to my garden no longer satisfies me. I need to know what I am doing and what my plants are doing in respect to my garden. So I have no other choice but to plan! Hey, maybe my garden will have more benefits that I originally thought. 🙂
For now, I will savor the planning stage in anticipation of this summers’ bounties. I want to review a few points for those of you who may be just entering the container gardening realm. I hope to be able to provide some helpful advice to make container gardening as painless as possible. For now, I will just cover the basics.
I purchased some seeds from the local Co-op and I can barely wait to plant them. Take a look!
Wow! Right? I was outdone when I saw these seeds. I am so excited about planting them. I, of course, had to control myself and not buy every packet with a unique veggie on the cover. Again, planning is important and if you are a garden groupie like myself, this is especially so.
The following is a TO-DO/CHECKLIST for reference. I will go into more detail in later posts.
- Pots – good pots with proper drainage
- Good soil – quality soil is a must for a sweet crop
- Light – be aware of how much sun is needed for your plant and place pot accordingly
- Moisture – make sure to water based on how much your plant needs or doesn’t need
- Fertilizer – your plants need proper nourishment since they are in containers
So that about does it for now. I will return next week with my garden drawings. Until then.
